Dear Stott families,

Welcome back! Returning to school in January is always filled with renewed energy and resolve to make a positive difference in the lives of all the members of our school community.

We have many people to thank for a great December. First of all, thank you to everyone who donated to our canned food drive. We were able to collect over 900 items to give to the Arvada Food Bank! We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to everyone who brought gifts and cards before the holidays. It means a lot to our staff to be remembered in such a way. PTSA provided bags of gourmet popcorn to all staff members as well. Yum! Finally, thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our holiday concert in December, and to the staff and students for putting on such a great show.

We start 2019 with a focus on responsibility. Working with students to help them learn to accept personal responsibility is a critical part of what we do each day. Being responsible means others can depend on you. You are accountable for your actions. When things go wrong and you make a mistake, you make amends instead of excuses. When you are responsible, you keep your agreements. You give your best to any job. We will be focusing on this character trait in classrooms and recognizing students for this during our whole school morning meeting on Fridays.

Our Watch DOGS program has been a tremendous success. Students have really enjoyed having the Watch DOGS here each day and staff appreciates the extra set of eyes and hands in the classrooms. We are planning a chili dinner on February 4, 2019 to honor all of the current Watch DOGS and invite new Watch DOGS to join our team. Look for a flyer to come home in Friday Folders with all of the details soon.

It’s hard to believe, but we are already in the planning stages for next year. As we make budget and staffing decisions, it is important that we know how many students will be returning to Stott next year. If your student is currently in kindergarten-4th grade, please complete the attached survey. We would greatly appreciate it. It should take less than one minute.

Choice enrollment window is open from January 22-February 8 this year. If you know of anyone looking to choice enroll at Stott, please direct them to this website

I am happy to meet with any prospective families personally, and share some of the great opportunities that we have for students at Stott.

Finally, I wish everyone a very Happy New Year and I look forward to witnessing the many successes and achievements of our students as the year unfolds.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
